Cookie policy
Effective from 2 September 2026 — last updated: 4 October 2026
This policy describes the cookies and similar technologies used bymailamber.app, in accordance with the ePrivacy rules (Article 122 of the Italian Privacy Code, Legislative Decree 196/2003) and the Guidelines on cookies and other tracking tools issued by the Italian data protection authority (Garante) on 10 June 2021. The short version:by default we use technical cookies only; optional anonymous measurement tools activate solely with your explicit consent, and without it no non-technical cookie is ever set. No advertising profiling, in any case.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser to remember information across visits or within a session. They fall into two categories: technicalcookies — required for the site to work or to deliver a service you explicitly request — andprofiling or tracking cookies, used to follow your browsing and build profiles. Mailamber uses only the first category.
2. The cookies this site uses
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
mb_access | Technical, first-party, httpOnly | Keeps your account-area session authenticated | 15 minutes |
mb_refresh | Technical, first-party, httpOnly, restricted to the /v1/auth path | Renews the session without asking you to sign in again | 60 days |
| Paddle cookies | Technical, third-party (Paddle.com Market Ltd) | Secure operation of the checkout and fraud prevention during purchase | See the Paddle cookie policy |
The mb_access and mb_refresh cookies are set only when you sign in to your account area, with the httpOnly and Secureattributes: they cannot be read by scripts and travel only over encrypted connections. Paddle's cookies are set exclusively when the checkout opens, as needed to complete the purchase you requested.
3. Measurement tools (with consent)
To understand how the site is used and improve it, we may activate third-party measurement tools. These tools are never loaded — no script, no request, no cookie — until you press «Accept» in the banner. If you press «Decline» (or make no choice), the site works exactly the same and stays free of non-technical cookies. The tools we may use are:
| Tool | Provider | Purpose | Main cookies |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics 4 | Google Ireland Ltd | Aggregate usage statistics (page views, referrers, device), with IP anonymization | _ga, _ga_* (up to 13 months) |
| Microsoft Clarity | Microsoft Ireland Operations Ltd | Heatmaps and anonymous session replays to improve usability | _clck, _clsk (up to 13 months) |
| Google Tag Manager | Google Ireland Ltd | Loading and managing the measurement tags listed in this table | No cookies of its own; the tags it loads use the cookies listed above |
Your choice is stored in your browser (the mb_consent localStorage entry) and you can withdraw it at any time:
These providers may transfer data to the United States under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Details in their notices:Google,Microsoft.
3-bis. Statistics in the Android app
The Android app does not use cookies. If you consent to usage statistics (a non-blocking request after your first mailbox, or Settings → Privacy and statistics), the app stores a random identifier and the events waiting to be sent on your phone; we forward them to Google Analytics 4 from our servers without your IP address. If active, the same consent also starts the Microsoft Clarity SDK, with text masked and paused on screens showing personal data. Without consent nothing is stored or sent. On withdrawal the identifier and pending events are deleted from the phone. Details on data, providers and retention are in section 10-sexies of the privacy policy.
4. localStorage and preferences
To remember a few preferences the site uses the browser's localStorage (a local storage area that is not automatically transmitted to servers): your chosen language (mb_lang), your consent choice (mb_consent) and, on documentation pages, your answer to «Was this helpful?» (mb_docs_fb:*), which is not sent to anyone. These values stay in your browser, contain no tracking identifiers, and you can remove them at any time by clearing the site's browsing data.
5. Consent and banner
In line with the Garante's Guidelines of 10 June 2021 and Article 122 of the Italian Privacy Code, the consent banner appears only when the measurement tools of section 3 are active on the site. Until you choose, and if you choose «Decline», no non-technical cookie is set and no third-party script is loaded: your choice is honored on every page, and browsing stays identical. If the measurement tools are switched off, no banner appears at all because there is nothing to consent to.
Under no circumstances does the site use:
- profiling or advertising cookies;
- pixels, fingerprinting or other covert tracking techniques;
- social widgets that drop cookies on page load.
6. Embedded videos
The demo video on the home page is hosted directly on our servers(mailamber.app): playing it contacts no third-party service, sets no cookie and transmits no data to anyone. The site embeds no external players (YouTube or similar): any links to our social channels open those sites in a new tab, under their own terms.
7. How to manage them in your browser
You can view, block or delete cookies at any time from your browser settings (usually under «Privacy and security»: Chrome, Edge, Firefox and the other major browsers offer equivalent controls, per site or global). Keep in mind that blocking this site's technical cookies prevents access to the account area and completion of the checkout, while browsing the public pages keeps working fully.
8. Updates
Should this site ever introduce cookies or tools other than those described here, this policy will be updated before their use and the banner will reflect the new purposes. For any question:privacy@mailamber.app. More details on how personal data is handled are in the privacy policy.
