Mailamber’s AI features and which plans include them
In short
On every plan, Free included, AI helps Smart Priority and Smart spaces using free models. Plus and Premium add the full assistant (write, review, change tone, summarize, translate, quick replies) and AI-generated HTML templates, with a monthly limit; Premium has a limit about 6 times higher.
AI in Mailamber never starts on its own: it only works for the features you use or turn on, after you give your consent.

How do I use the writing assistant?#
From Windows 1.14.0 the assistant lives in the message sidebar and replaces the Write with AI button: press Ctrl+J, ask for what you need or use a quick action, then apply the suggestion with a preview of the changes. It sees the subject and the text you wrote, never your signature, and the original email only when needed. All the details are in AI assistant in the composer. On Android, from version 1.4.0, the same assistant opens in a sheet from the bottom with AI assistant in the composer.
What are the AI limits?#
- Free: no assistant; AI-powered Smart Priority and the assist for uncertain senders run on free AI models and don’t use any budget.
- Plus: assistant and AI HTML templates included, with a monthly limit.
- Premium: a monthly limit about 6 times higher than Plus.
Your monthly usage is shown as a percentage in your account area and in the app (“AI usage this month”). It resets on the 1st of every month. On top of the monthly limit there are daily and per-minute limits that protect the service from abuse: if you hit them you’ll see “Too many requests in a row: wait a minute.” or “Monthly AI limit reached: try again from the 1st of next month.”
The bar fills up based on the actual cost of each request: long ones (HTML templates, translations of long emails) use more than short ones, and before starting the app checks that the request fits in the credit you have left. When the month’s credit runs out the assistant stops and a message tells you the date it renews; Smart Priority and Smart spaces keep working. On Plus you can upgrade to Premium to get more AI.
What happens when credit is low or not enough?#
Below 10% of credit left, the AI panel shows a small note with the percentage and the renewal date. If a request is too large for the credit you have left (for example an HTML template or the translation of a long email), the app tells you before you start and, if you try anyway, explains that the remaining credit isn’t enough for that request: try a shorter text or a shorter length, or wait for the renewal. Summaries, quick replies and the assistant chat can instead answer more briefly than usual, and they tell you so. If the credit runs out while a request is in progress, the app tells you it couldn’t finish and you aren’t charged anything for that request. On Plus you can upgrade to Premium to get more AI.
Which models does Mailamber use?#
The automatic features (priority and spaces) use free models through OpenRouter, with data collection turned off. The assistant uses models from OpenRouter, OpenAI and Anthropic, picked automatically for quality and availability. Your text is never used to train models: the details are in AI and privacy.
